About me

Hello, I come from a rather small town in Germany, Hameln. Most people probably know this town because of the famous Pied Piper of Hamelin, who played the flute and first freed the town from rats and later—according to the legend—led the children and young people out of the town as well.

I, too, was drawn out of the small town and into the world, first studying biochemistry in Berlin and then moving to Florence, Italy, after my university studies. Languages have always been one of my passions, but the decisive factor for a career change was the Italian course I took in Florence. I was fascinated by the interactive method of language and culture teaching on the one hand, and the patient and truly kind help and support of the Italian teachers on the other. For as long as I can remember, one of the most important and rewarding things for me has been building bridges between countries and languages, understanding differences, and breaking down prejudices. It quickly became clear that working as a language teacher was the right path for me.

I successfully completed the distance learning course „Methodik und Didaktik des fremdsprachlichen Deutschunterrichts“ (Methodology and Didactics of Teaching German as a Foreign Language) at the Goethe-Institut Munich in 2010 and have since been a certified teacher of German as a Foreign Language.

From 2007 to 2024, I worked at the Deutsches Institut Florenz, where I taught both group language courses and individual lessons, as well as exam preparation courses.

I am also a Goethe examiner for levels A1 to C2 and am very familiar with both Goethe and TELC exams.

In 2024, I successfully completed the professional development courses „Zertifizierter Dozent (m/w/d) Deutsch für medizinische Fachkräfte“ (Certified Instructor of German for Medical Professionals) and „Zertifizierter Dozent (m/w/d) Deutsch für Pflegekräfte“ (Certified Instructor of German for Healthcare Workers).

Starting in August 2024, I became a freelance professional, working for various schools and institutions in Germany and Italy, and also offering individual lessons online.
